This exhibition was part of my capstone project कला.

My capstone project explores decolonization in art institutions through an Indian Folk art lens. As phase one of कला, I explore decolonization in the institutions of art galleries, which took the form of a community engagement workshop.

After giving a lecture introducing my design research using Speculative Design, I facilitated a community-building exercise with everyone in attendance, using Warli art as a medium to focus on the relations between art and its institutions.

  • As part of my design research activities, I created a series of images wherein I photoshopped Indian folk art into Eurocentric spaces and acclaimed art galleries. The motive of this activity was to visualize what decolonization could look and feel like.
